Our season in Ohio starts the 21. I will be taking the ole mathews to the woods again this year. Bowhunting birds is such a rush I love it. Went out today scouting and heard birds at all 6 farms I hunt. Even got watch one struter with a few hens.

We roosted 13 gobblers and 10 hens yesterday!

Well we went to the spot where we seen one struting and one had a beard draggin the gorund!

We got in there..mad a Owl Hoot.....no response...then 3 Owls went off the walls and 2 gobblers were responding!

We got set up at 5:45.....started purring....bam...here they came!

Came straigh in but couldn't get a shot....they went down into a hollow and gobbles their heads off!!

We quit calling...so they would come to us...15mins later there was one walking left and another came out from behind us and was heading towards the other.

The Left Walker gobbled...His head cam back up and BAM...the Russian 12ga. 3 1/2 did the trick

What a day for Team 11!!!!!
Here's me with my first rio!!! Left work at 12, head out to woods.. winds blowing 35mph.... First spot, dudes there(public land) secong spot... another guy... 3rd spot... no ones hangin out... I got out and started calling, didn't think anything was gonna happen cause the wind was blowing so hard... sat for a bit and thought of going to the other side of the field when I caught movement on the other side of the tree... I had my gun in my lap... not ready.
Box call was on the ground so I reached down and gave some real soft one handed yelps and raised the gun... bird strut right in and ate a load of Remington lead.
This is the first Rio out of about 20 kills, being from upstate NY and trying to live up to my old man... I immediate called and bragged about it, since he still aint shot one....

Some of our seasons havent started yet!;)

On a side not I went out to another public land area and heard four gobblers sounding off in the morning, and I accidently spooked one walking out. It should be a good spot as long as it isnt pressured too much. Another good note is that I got permission to hunt 180 acres. A lot of it is really thick woods that make it hard to hunt but there is one field that is about 40 acres.

Our regular season starts tomorrow. Took a boy out yesterday for youth season and called him in a pretty nice bird it was 17lbs 10 1/2 inch beard and a touch over inch and a 1/4 spurs. Best part was watching this bird attack my b-mobile decoy and knock it clean off the stake. Well good luck all. Hope to be posting some bird pics soon.

Well took my first one today. It was 19 lbs 10 inch beard and 1 1/4 spurs. Just checking what all I need to do to score it. Killed it with my Mathews LX. Got to go get turkey tag number two now.

That's awesome! Congrats on an Archery kill as well!

I have gone out before class Monday-wednesday and have had aome awesome hunts, but could not get myself a bird. Monday me and my buddy had 3 toms sneak in with a live hen in our decoys and my buddy got his first bird, but I wasnt positioned right to get the double. It was an amazing hunt tho. I still have plenty of time to kill one.

Took second bird in Ohio today. Shot it at 36 yards with a rage broadhead and stopped it in its tracks. It was 21 lbs, 10 inch beard, and had 1 inch spurs total score 61. Man this has been an awesome season. I still have a few friends to help fill a tag or two though. Good luck team.

We ended our season yesterday, and the birds defnitely beat me....well kinda. I got 3 within range opening morning but wanted to get my buddy his first bird and he shot before i was in position for the double. Oh well, It was an amazing hunt non-the-less. After that the birds seemed call shy. Hunting public land is tough but it makes it more rewarding.

I shot that one and have been guiding since, I have taken some military folks out on free hunts and a few guys that have never hunt before on free hunts... I might take some time tonight or this weekend and blast one.

My season ends sunday. I am hunting one bird in particularbutIwill blast one of the 5 jakes running around if given an opportunity. That tom is really starting to piss me off. Looking back on the season, I can honestly say that passing on a jake the first evening with my bow was a dumb mistake. but oh well.

Got the monsterous turkey I told you guys about. 29.5lbs 11 inch beard 1.5&1.25 inch spurs. Score 79. So freaking pumped.
