Just thought I woudl add guys, we are currently in 3rd place and that is without the 7 extra points that SouthernStrut's bird adds to his previous best from this contest, as well as the 67.75 points from my bird. If you add in ourextra 74.75 points that haven't been reported, that would put us in 1st place........we just haven't reported it yet because of bullshooter being gone.
Keep laying them down guys!! We have a really good shot at winning this thing!!
I'm headed to call on Friday and Saturday for buddies in PA this weekend, and then the following weekend have 3 weeks to try and fill my two tags in NY. If I'm lucky Imay be able to top the one I have now.

Well, my opener was uneventful. The birds were pretty tight lipped here, but I did find one hot on the roost. I saw some movement and thought I had him coming, but it turned out to be a bunch of deer that hung around for a good half hour or so. Rest of the morning was a washout. I'm blaming my new cabelas turkey lounger, lol. That thing is a pain in the butt to cary around, but your but will thank you for it. That thing is just too comfortable to sit in when you should be moving. Think I'll give that same spot a try tomorrow morning, then I suppose I'll go to workFriday since they're calling for rain. I'll hit it again on the weekend.

Uneventful for me most of the morning. Boxcall Willy on the neghbor land was trying to start a forest fire with his call I think. He was callin nonstop. I think he shut them down. I moved to other side of my property and called in a Jake at 11:30 and let him go. Then on my out of the woods I had a bird going at 11:50. Tried to setup and hunted until 12:05 trying to get him in...Can only hunt till noon so I snuck out of there and will go back after him tomorrow....

Yesterday was even slower than opening day. Very tight lipped (beaked?). I didn't think I'd even hear a gobble when finally I had one gobble a couple times on the roost. I got as close as I could without tromping thru thick stuff in the dark but I guess it wasn't close enough. He gobbled only a few times on the roost, then after fly down, nada. Spent all morning trying to locate something and did a bit of blind calling to no avail. Unfortunately, due to time constraints of my buddy, I'll have to hunt the same area tomorrow. I'll go elsewhere on Sunday if we don't score. I'm holding my best hope for CT, but I'll miss the first weekbecause of work. I'm the only one who hunts my honey hole in one spot I have there, so I'm thinking next Saturday will be my best bet for scoring the way its looking.

Okay guys and gals I will keep it short. Drove 14 hours to get out of the truck to gobbling birds. I killed my first at 1030 on the 23rd we had been in camp less than 2 hours. He was a good heavy 2 year old. 23lbs, 10 1/2 beard and 1" spurs. Number 2 came on the 28th. Hecame from the roost to the gun after only 6 calls. He was also a nice 2 year old. 20 lbs 9 1/2" beard and 1" spurs. There were a total of 3 of us in camp and we killed 4 birds. Some of the locals did very good as well. I saw more men hunting this year than ever. I saw 4 guys in two hours one morning, all were from out of state. Guess the price of gas has not slowed the turkey hunters...

One of the locals killed two with multipul beards.
