Default RE: My First Pistol

Here in onondaga county you have to pay $10.00 for an application and then pay $25.00 for a safty course. Then after you fill it out with 4 referances(no family or people who reside with you) you make an appointment to turn it in and get finger printed 4 times plus a thumb print on you permit with a photo. That cost $36.00 county fee and $99.00 fee for the FBI to run your finger prints. They tell you it can take up to 6 months and say not to call untill that 6 months is up. I waited 4 months and then called when they told me I was approved. They also said that they sent out the post card telling me I was approved but it was lost in the mail I guess. Then you go to the Sheriff's office to pick your permit up. When you buy a pistol you have to pay for it and take a bill of sale with a bill for a trigger lock also to the Sheriff's office where they type it on you permit and then give you a coupon that you take back to the seller who then lets you take your pistol home. Long process but It is worth it.
