RE: .22 hornet
I got a new toy about 6 weeks ago. Been tinkering around with it some. So far it has been very accurate and I am very pleased with it. I had a NEF in .22 Hornet, but I didn't like brake open action. Pain in the rear shooting in the prone or off the bench. So I had been eyeballing the Model 40 Savage since they listed it in January 2004. Man what a tack driver. I haven't chronographed any loads yet, just working up accuracy loads. Sor far with 10 handloads and 2 factory loads, that I have shot most have grouped 3/4", 1 has gouped closer to 1/2, and 2 or 3 have grouped in the 1"-1.5" range. These are average 3, 5 shot groups. The accu-trigger is set at 1.5# and it is topped with a 4.5x-14x Nikon Monarch. I can't wait to get bust a few groundhogs this spring with it.
