We found a dead buck while looking for sheds a few weeks ago and despite having been dead since sometime during the fall, there was still quite a bit of meat on the skull/neck area. We ended up taking the entire head rather than just the skull cap, but I would certainly say it's feasible that this deer was killed in November and just recovered now.
