Default RE: 3D SHOOTS: WHATS YOUR THOUGHTS

I like the kind of shoot you describe, except it's more fun when there are brush or trees in the way and you have to find a shot from the stake.

I like to see at least some stakes set so there are problems to be solved before the shot can be taken. Maybe every third shot or so, make it where you have to kneel, sit, squat down, lean one way or another to find an opening for your arrow. Where even standing on different sides of the stake would totally change a shot from impossible to easy.

That's the way we set a lot of our targets at our club. Shooters come away from the round with good knowledge of how they shoot in a variety of situations and at a variety of yardages. Our attitude is, if you want to know how you shoot while standing on your hind legs using your very best shooting form, at a target sitting out in wide open spaces with a carefully manicured shooting lane, then stay on the practice range or go shoot a field archery course.

But, our club is made up of mostly knothead bowhunters. Only a couple of our members are hardcore tournament shooters. We go out to have fun, not to have cutthroat competition.
