Default RE: split 7.62X54R case

Last year I bought a Mosin nagant M44, I dont know wether if it was unused or arsenal refinished or what but it came from Century Arms international marked as excellent condition and all serial numbers match, It was marked $59.99 out the door after taxes it was $64 and some change. The first time to the range I had a box of wolf fmj i cant remember the grain weight and a couple boxes of czech silver tip 148 grain semi corrosive steel core stuff. The wolf ammo shot great was averaging 1 to 2 inch groups at 100 yards but was hitting 6 to 8 inches high with the sights set at the lowest point. The Czech stuff also grouped great 1 to 3 inch groups with the sight at the lowest point of adjustment the rounds were hitting dead level with the bullseye except a few inches to the left after adjusting the front sight for windage it was now dead on. that czech silvertip is all i shoot now i even shot in some vintage war rifle competitions with the stuff and managed to take second place twice and 3rd another time. I see czech brown tip and yellow tip ammo often but never bothered with it since the silver tip ammo shoots great, no sense in trying anything else especially since that silver tip ammo costs me only a mere $80 per 1000 rounds. last weekend i did buy a couple boxes of brown bear 203 grain soft points, thinking about using the M44 to take a yote or 2, gonna hit the range tomorrow and see how much different the POI is from those silver tips.
