One more question: How would you rate the recoil of, say, a .270 with a 12 ga (not a skeet load).
I'm not afraid at all of recoil. I just don't want to develope a flinch or anything. Kinda reminds me of the "yips" in golf, if any of you have ever heard of them. Disastrous for your game and need a psychyatrist to cure it. So I don't want that stuff happening to me when i'm trying to learn to be accurate with a rifle!!

The old highbrass 12 gauge 1 1/4 oz duck load developed recoil similar to a .375 H&H. But standin' up shootin a shotgun at a movin target ain't quite the same as shootin a rifle from a solid position.
Developing a flinch is a valid fear,and some folks will do so with a .270 before they get some experience. As far as the yips I've never played cow pasture pool, I wouldn't know.
