Hey rem1100,
Do you ever travel or pay to hunt turkeys? If so sometimes it's nice to be able to fill a tag on the last day of your hunt on a uncooperative gobbler. Not proud of it but 50+ yards has saved my $1000.00 trip on an occasion or two. Have 3 slams with longbeards from 15 states in the last 4 years. It's easy to be selective and challenged when hunting close to home but take your show on the road and invest your savings account every year on your journey and lets talk.
Wow.. not proud of pulling down on a $1000 bird at over 50 yrds...obviously the pressure of the last day, combined with what you just spent for that hunt, I understand the anxiety. I have never spent that much on any hunt,(could-just won't) but I can't see the relativeness between "how much $$ involved " and "having to kill to be sucessful", which is what I got from your post,Sir. One poster said he'd be taking a bird home a 50 yds... I reckon he might...maybe. But if he don't, it's the
bird who pays the price.....I'm not willing to risk that, myself.
