I shot a doe yaes ago that had a growth on it like that on it's hind quarter. Not quite that big. I asked a DNR fella I know what it was and he said the same thing, paploma(sp). He said it is very common and it does not effect the meat at all and is not catchy if you touch it. I ate the deer and, my wife may argue, have had no ill effects!!
