Several years back, I was scouting a farm near my home in SW Ohio and in the course of scouting I started talking to the farmer. He told me about a deer that had got caught in a tree near one of his corn fields. Poor thing thought he was just going to get something to eat.
Well sure enough there was a nice little 8 pointer with his rack caught in the branches of a tree. It seems that when he jumped the fence he got his antlers caught in the over-hanging branches. His front legs were several inches off the gound (maybe 6-8" or so) and I assume he must have hung there for several days and just starved to death. He put up a struggle from the signs of hair on the fence and marks on the ground.
Kinda wierd how natural selection works.
Anyway, your pictures reminded me of that deer I saw about 10 years ago.
