Bowfanitic, Was it shot placement on the QA shot.?Because if you hit lungs it wouldn't have been a long track job even with out an exit hole.
Both shots were perfect shot placement. Both shots took out lung and heart with no exit wound due to opposite leg. A normal lung shot has plenty of blood for tracking but since I took out the heart there was nothing to pump the blood , that along with no exit wound and an arrow still plugging the entrance wound left me with a teaspoon of blood at best between both deer. Both deer were recovered but for whatever reason it seems that when you make a heart shot they tend to cover alot of ground real fast.
To each his own I guess. I know the QA shot is a popular choice but from my experiences I'll stick with broadside or even slightly quartering towards whenever possible.
