Default RE: Thoughts on Sunday hunting bans

ok I have watched this forum for awhile and listened to everyones opinions... I personally owuld love to see Sunday hunting ban lifted.. I will help in anyway I can with this cause.....

I however have onpost on this thread that makes me boil everytime I read it... Now I have been on here for awhile and have met some of you guys off here and hunted with a few others... while my first love is a bow in hand.. I do also like a bp and picking up the old shotgun a few times a year as well... maybe not so much for the actual season but for the friendships and memories that each weapon brings to mind.. I would feel that I am not some wild card or irresponsible hunter (ask Va Savage who spent 4 days on a hunt with me) and there are those whom I talk with on here when I am on here... my point is this... and I hate to point a finger but Pearl Jam labeled all hunters who use dogs to deer hunt with as redneck slobs who dont care about the game..... that p*sses me off to no end... Pearl maybe the groups aroudn your land are not the most responsible ones.. lord knows there are groups that arent but there are also plenty of people who pick up a gun the night before season opens and put it in a case and head to the woods and shot a gun they havent picked up since last year how responsibel is that.. or the ones who shot at movment or the ones who shot and hit an animal and since it doesnt drop in front of them or doesnt leave a blood trail a foot wide they feiil they nicked it and dont look for it... how responsible are these people??? not very!! I for one have hunted with dogs over the years and I still do a few times a year.... the group I have been doing this with has a QDM program in place and yes that means they shot alot of does but that also means they let alot fo close bucks go unless they are sure of the size.... I try to not attack people and I am not attacking you as you have of all people who hunt with dogs but I feel your statement was way out of line. I know guys who dog hunt that should not have a drivers permit let alone a hunting permit and yes they are slobs.... but dear god DO NOT LUMP ALL PEOPLE WHO participate in this time honored southern tradition as redneck slobs I know a few lawyers in northern va that hunt with dogs as well as alot of buisness owners. I have to take a minute to wonder if you are native to Va or are you a transplant that comes here and does not like the use of dogs hunting.. which is fine you do not have to like it.. and then decides they want it stoped because they dont like it...if that is the case I invite you to return to a state or a portion of Va where it is not allowed therefor it does not bother you as much...Also for the deer needing a day of rest around here most of them time the deer have most of the week aside from fridays or saturdays to rest unless it is a holiday week then yes they hunt more.

Once again I am not attacking you but the lumping together touches a nerve with me. I welcome the chance to "talk about " this with you or even have you tag along next season to see how the groups I associate with do it so that maybe it will change your veiw of all of us...

There are certain aspects of certain types of hunting I do not agree with but I do not feel they should be banned... a hunter wanting to ban another style of hunting is nothing more than a member of PETA without a card I feel.... there way or no way.... I will support 100% any method of hunting as long as it is legal... Once we start to turn on each other and try to ban other styles of hunting then all we are doing is helping PETA and other animal rights nuts......

I am not askign you to like any style of hunting... but not lump everyone who does together...

Thanks

Justin
