You can kill the coyote with the .243 about as far as you can see him, but in reality if you are calling them in you will rarely get shots out past 350 yards. The .243 shooting a 55 grain ballistic silvertip sighted in at 200 yards will be about an inch high at 100 and 3.5 inches low at 300 and just about a foot low at 400 yards. The wind drift at 300 yards with a 10 mph crosswind will be right about 7 inches. I have shot them out to distances of 700 yards using this rifle and ammo combination, and as close as 5 steps...
