Default RE: Colorado Opener

Man, what a weekend. We hunted on some private ground Saturday with 5 people. All corn fields with corners that had decent cover. We chased birds back and forth into and out of the corners all day. Birds were very spooky though, they had taken over 30 birds out opening weekend and 20 the following weekend. We ended up with 8 as always we should have had more but poor shots on a few birds prevented that. The property was walk in last year and a friend of mine asked for permission and the land owner was great. He would come out and check on us after he would hear a lot of shooting. We found out he liked Miller Light and before we left we made sure he didn't have to add it to his grocery list for a long time. All the guys I went out with left and I stayed the night to hunt the next day. The 2nd walk in field I walked that morning produced about 20 birds in 15 minutes. I had my limit and was home by 11:30am. Days like that are what keep you coming back weekend after weekend, year after year. It doesn't get much better than that. I will be back out next weekend, and hope those birds didn't go far.
