I think you are confusing two different groups with deceptively similar names. One group -- maybe "The American Humane Society," or something like that -- provides temporary shelters for animals. The group cited here doesn't do any such activities but is purely an anti-hunting group. I think this is the case. I hope someone who knows more will correct any errors I have introduced.
