Default RE: Anyone use American Poineer propellents?

I used the old Verion of that powder (CleanShot) and got very good results with the 2fg in my rifle. I found it to be about 5% weaker than Pyro or Black, making it about 20% weaker than 777. THAT may be why it worked so much better for you than 777 - maybe you were pushing your 777 loads to high??

By far, American Pioneer/CleanShot is MUCH cleaner than 777, Pyro, or Black - so there's NO bore crud to worry about when shooting. I had fired over 20 shots one day with no cleaning and no loss of accuracy with CleanShot. However, the powder's one fault is that it is VERY Hygroscopic(?)..............It absorbs moisture VERY easily. You have GOT to keep it sealed and de-humidfied at all times or else it can turn bad in a HURRY. Eventually that is why I switched to 777 - it doesn't seem to be bothered so much by moisture; plus since 777 is more powerful, I use about 20 - 25gr less powder for my average load..............giving me about 15 more shots per pound.
