Default RE: Building a new 300 RUM

ORIGINAL: stubblejumper

The feed rails will probably have to be modified to get the best feeding and the multramag magazine insert will be required in order to have a magazine capacity of three cartridges.
ORIGINAL: bigcountry

I would also recrown. If you are going to do all that, might want to consider a really quality barrel. I know I would if I was going to do all that work. I have a krieger myself on my 300RUM and love it. Modifications should be very minimal. But remember a 300RUM has alot of freebore (like .2"), but not near like a weatherby. If I had to redue my 300RUM, I would find a smith to put me a custom throat on the gun without all the freebore.
wow! sounds like alot of work??? I mean wouldnt it be cheaper to just go get a used 300 rum? Saw one at Cabelas 2 weeks ago for $599! Just curious.
