My thoughts,
I loved Golden Eagle bows for many years now. Now that they are owned by Bear Archery, they are ugly and I'm not 100% on the quality. That is my opinion, others may still like them. I just ordered a Parker for next year.
That said, My Golden Eagle that I will use for the final time on Saturday has killed 46 deer since I purchased it new in 1993. Eleven years old and this year, I killed three deer and it was every bit as effective as back in "93."
Specs: 30 1/4" 2315 arrows, 125 gr. Rocky Mtn Ultra Heads, set at 72# (limbs maxed out). Chrono last August at 209 fps.
IMO - It is all about where you put the arrow. I have shot through the shoulder of full grown deer with this bow. Twice. The shots did kill the animal quickly. I think that had more to do with the KE of my arrows than the bow. I like heavy arrows just for this reason. My only drawback, deer can duck 209 fps! Just not often.
2 blades 3 blades 4 blades, guys love them all. I have the most perfect set up with 3 blades so I never switched to anything else. My son has used Muzzy 3 blade 100 gr. and they put some nasty holes in his deer.
After years of Rky Mtn, I'm switching with the new bow for 2005.
Good luck with which ever setup you decide to use.
