Default RE: New Yorks 2005 hunting seasons. Bad news for bowhunters

ORIGINAL: mdrbowler99

I am also a bowhunter but couldn't get out this year for medical reasons.I really don't know of any bowhunters that go out late, but they have a pretty long early season. The muzzleloader season is only 1 week after the season and it seems short for the cost of the license.I hunt for the meat but I also would not like to have to let a trophy go because it was doe only season.I am disabled so it is hard for me to get to areas that deer come in close. This year I am hunting from a portable chair on the edge of an open field duee to the fact that I can barely walk.Thank heaven for my 4 wheeler or I wouldn't be hunting at all.
Cheers to you for getting out there. Unfortunately... NYS is way behind the times in allowing adaptive use of a crossbow for similar people like you. Many states allow the use of a crossbow after you meet their standards.

NYS only allows use of a crossbow in tandem with a breath oriented release...meaning you have to be paralyzed practically. It is time NY catches up with other states in allowing hunters to remain in the field that have restrictions on their abilities.
