Guess it depends on your type of hunting. I hunt mostly woods and some field. I have the Remington 700 BDL DM in .30-06. To me this is the best all around deer gun. My son hunt fields only and he likes the same gun in 7mm Rem Mag. I kid him it is too much gun but he has taken deer at 301 yards with one shot.
