I wouldn't worry about it too much. Deer are used to dogs in the woods, at least where I hunt. Not saying they will hang around if they see a dog, but I don't think the scent will be a big deal. Dogs run by me often where I hunt. I don't shoot them.......although the thought has crossed my mind......but these are someones pet. They have collars and are not "wild dogs". That would be a whole different story.
