the reason that I think that flourocarbon line would be most effective in deep clear water is that in stained or muddy water line color makes little difference. Ive fished in deep clear lakes before like strip mines, and in trout lakes in colorado and the fish would be very line shy. I didnt have flourcarbon line on my reels but I went from 10lb pound test down to 6lb and caught alot more fish. The smaller diameter made the difference.
