Use cheap or old line for backer then finish up your reel with 40 yds of good line...

there's no such thing as cheap line when your possible stressing everything you own to its max LOL! Sorry cheap dont cut it in fishing line unless you like break offs on kings or some of the smaller salmon!

I was however thinking something similar...have a "tippet" section of the fluoro on the main running line....I wonder how it will hold up on my Fireline though? Any thoughts?
