Some great advice here on the these postings. I have to agree that you may have pushed too hard on the opening and NEVER name call. Name calling is what people do when there is nothing left in the fact pile.

May I suggest doing some extra credit reporting. If he dosen't learn from it, you still do, and thus the winner anyway. Also, try (you do have to agree) but try to understand what is fueling his beliefs. Why does he feel this way? Is he a true "anti" or someone concerned for the right reasons but wrong information? If he's a professional, he'll return the respect and you won't have to worry about being cheated on the grades. Good luck and keep us updated.
