Hearing the deer coming through 8-10 inches of fresh leaves has no substitute. A good friend of mine lives on a 220 acre dairy farm which holds deer that are about 10-20 pounds heavier than ours, but I've always felt that shooting at deer 200 yards in the middle of a field would never have the same effect of shooting one at 70 yards in the woods.
Nothing wrong with either scenario... It's just what I'm used to and what I prefer.
