I have a No. 1 in .458 Win. Mag. and it is not at all unmanageable. W/O scope it is 9 1/2 lbs. That weight definitely soaks up some recoil. I would have to say it is considerably more than a 30-06 but a little less than a .300 RUM. The capacity of the rifle will have nothing to do with recoil, weight will.

As for the BOSS, you can get a BOSS CR (Conventional Recoil). It is the BOSS without the muzzle brake.
