RE: American Pioneer Compressed Sticks
Here is a couple of my observations. The sticks vary a lot in weight from stick to stick. The variation is a lot more than Hodgen pellets. I don't know how AP expects consistent results with such a wide variation. Personally I would not try for groups with the sticks. I think mine will just get used up for shooting at cans. The loose powder shows promise however. I am also considering the new Black Mag3 powder which is supposed to be completely non-corrosive and requires no swab between shots ever! Relative to the 209 vs. other primers; there is a possibility that the power of the 209 is sufficient to move the charge and bullet up the rifle before complete combustion takes place. If that is true it certainly could affect accuracy. A 209 will shoot the bullet out of a barrel without powder. My Omega has been converted to the .25ACP using rifle primers and I think it is a good thing so far. Reduces crud ring with 777 by about 80%. Check the Black Mag3 thread on Graybeard sitel
