The dog had a great nose and since he was use to smelling for something as small as a dove he found it very easy to wind check for deer. With his nose he could cover more gound in 10 minutes than five guys could in an hour.

A test was done similar to your comparison. It took a dog 3 minutes to complete a 300 yard tracking job, and took three men @3-4 hours to complete.
