As frizzellr said, if you have picked out a rifle you can't afford then you better save your pennies.

I'd agree with others in that I'd look for a decent used rifle. Our local shops have a pile of used Ruger 77s and Remington 700s in 270 right now. Best selection I have seen in years. Most are running $350-$450 with a scope. Shop owners have said that guys are trading for the new whizz whammo wsms.
