I have a 4 yr old weimar. He's great with kids and highly protective of the family. I got him when he was 2yrs old. Spent his first 2 yrs in town and never saw a gun.


We live in the country and i do a lot of shooting - he took to it like butter to bread - now if he sees me taking a gun out, he's waiting at the door. As for hunting - once he figured out what i was looking for - he goes for it!! Some he will point - others he just flushes (grouse). I'm geting to old to try and train him properly - but it could be done!!

They are an extremely smart breed of dog and very loving!!! Just start him/her out with all the basics (and make sure they learn them) then go from there!!
