On your low, and back, hit that dropped the cow elk...if you had to anchor another elk with one shot would you shoot it intentionally in that spot? I'll guess you would say no.
All kinds of things that shouldn't happen do happen. That's the reason I suggest playing the percentages.

If a 300 Weatherby mag isn't a hammer, I guess the animals you shot with it weren't suceptible to being hammered in the first place.
