I know a few old time hunters that used the 35 rem on deer/bear in the northeast and they would laugh if someone told them the 30/30 was even close in killing power.
I've shot deer with both calibers and they both killed the deer I have shot some dropped dead on the spot others ran about 30-40 yards all I'm saying is they both kill deer the same. Now if I was talkin about bear hunting yeah I would choose the 35 rem for one obvious reason alone it comes in a 200 grain loading. If you were bear hunting and had the choice of a larger caliber but chose the smaller one I think you would be quite stupid.
