Either will work, I prefer the 17 hmr. The cci will do less damage to meat i imagine. You realy should go for a headshot with either sense they will do a good bit of damage. Sense you threw rabbits into the mix id go for a 12 ga or a 20ga shotgun. I have never hunted rabbits where they wernt up and running.
