Do you think the 180grn Partitions would be too much for whitetail?
For me personally yes any of the four you listed are way to much for whitetail around here in this part of NC i don't know about your area. I like using the lighter weight bullets in all my rifles and have always had great success doing so from close up work to ranges out past 300yds. Let me add the deer here don't get that big they average about 130-150lbs in this part of NC so if you kill one around here that weighs 200lbs then you've killed a monster. I use the 115gr Partitions in my 25.06 as well as my sons and they have proven to be pure deer poison for the deer around here and we've never lost a deer with that combination. When i take the 30.06 which i rarely use anymore for deer i use a Hornady 130gr Spire point and i've never lost a deer using that bullet either and have only had a couple that didn't fall right there when shot. The two that did run didn't go 10yds or so and were running dead. With any bullet shot placement is the key but sometimes it doesn't matter what you shoot them with they don't always fall on the spot. I honestly don't think you would have a problem at all anchoring a deer in his tracks with any of your choices. The Partition will serve you well if it shoots good out of your rifle but only testing will decide that. Which ever one is the most accurate out of your rifle is definately the one i'd opt for because shot placement along with a well constructed bullet is a lethal combination. As long as you do your part and put one in the engine room rest assured any of the bullets you've mentioned will do the job and do it well imo. Good luck.
