Just like so many have stated so far, you have to hunt him close to home. That mean sitting on that stand all day or at least hunting mid-day. Deer have to feed several times per day to survive. A wildlife biologists told me that deer have a parasite in their stomachs that requires them to keep food in their stomach constantly or the parasite will begin feeding on the lining of the stomach.
Also, when a buck has survived several hunting seasons he has developed a survival technique that works. When he does move during the day it is in slow short spands. He may be 100 yards from you at times but just staying in the thick stuff.
The only other advice that I can offer is use the rut to your advantage.
