RE: Browning BLR in 30-.06 - good idea?
After doing my research, I went to buy a BLR in 243 about 2 weeks ago. I think it is a great all-around gun. After getting to the store, I saw that he had a used BLR in 308 for $320...gun looked new (99%), and I couldn't pass on this. It is quickly becoming my favorite rifle. It is essentially a bolt action that cycles on a lever. Either of the two you mentioned will do great, but the 30-06 may be a little better for elk.
