I bought a 300 wsm when they first came out.I don't know if it's any better than a standard 300 win mag but so far it's everything they talked it up to be.It's very accurate,easy to reload,easy on the shoulder for a lightweight rifle and just fun to play with.I think after components are more available and load data established,I'll pick up a 25 wssm.I think it would make a pretty slick little gun in the ultimate shadow.It may not exceed what a 25-05 will do but I bet it's right on it's heels.I wouldn't be surprised if barrel life will be better and accuracy improved all things being equal.The only thing that concerns me is potential feeding problems with such a short stubby case.I watches a guy shooting a 243 wssm last week and he claimed that it did have feeding problems on occassion.I think anything that generates renewed interest and increased gun sales is a positive thing.Even with that said,I've yet to find a better deer round for my purposes than the semi obsolete .308 shooting 165 gr Hornady fb bullets.While I reach for that gun more than any other,it would be boring if it was the only one in my safe.
