Default Roundballs in a fast twist barrel?

My wife has voiced a desire to deer hunt with me this fall, and would be doing so with one of my muzzleloaders (I'm hunting with a handgun this year), but she is fairly recoil sensitive and needs an effective 100yd deer load that won't beat the snot out of her.

My first thought was to try using patched roundballs because they are absolutely devastating even at moderate velocities and are light enough to keep recoil down. Unfortunately, both of my ML's have fast twist (1-in-28") barrels, so the question that comes to mind is would I be wasting my time trying to get accuracy with RB's out of a 1-in-28" barrel?

I don't really want to buy balls, lube and patches just to find out that the loads won't group.

Another associated question would be...are there any inexpensive slow twist percussion guns (sidelock is perfectly fine, just not a flintlock) in .50cal that I could pick up for her to use this year?

Thanks,

Mike
