Assuming you mean black bear, just about any of the 30's will work fine. A 7 mm Rem mag is fine too. Black bear hunting isn't a long range proposition unless you are in pretty open country and can glass for them.

I really like some of the bigger calibers like .348 .35 .356 .358 .375 .444 .45/70. There are many to pick from, but the thing is, any of these will easily handle deer and black bear at ranges out to 150 yds. For longer ranges, I'd go to .308, '06 and the like. Then there are all the magnums. I do like Savages, great value in a working rifle.
