I purchased a Remington Stainless synthetic DM in a 7m-08 and absolutely love it. I shoot very nice groups at 100 yards. There is very little recoil and therefore takes any flinch factor out, especially for younger or novice hunters. However, adult and experience hunters are the ones making this caliber so newly popular. In saying all that , Having shot both the 7m-08 and the 308, I think that there is very little difference between the two. Both are excellent choices for whitetail.
