RE: hunting nocturnal bucks
Hunt him early in the season and hunt him hard. I have always found that the bigger bucks will be seen earlier in the season before they pattern you. The deer here in south Texas absolutely know when it's time to "go nocturnal". After the first few days of the season, forget seeing the muy grandes during daylight hours except during the peak of the rut when he might get caught far from home in unfamiliar country, after a long night of chasing. Otherwise your only chance is to hunt heavy brush where he might "stage" in an area frequented by the local talent.
