Default RE: hunting nocturnal bucks

You are going to have to get back close to his bedding area, but there is one problem with that. He probably does not use them same trail all the time getting into his bedding area. See if you can find a funnel close to his bedding area and set up there but you are going to have have to get in there hours before daylight, well before he would think about going back into the bedding area. My self I would be onstand by 04:30 am. If he is in the area when you go into the stand he is history. I bumped one last year close to his bedding area just because I was late getting to my stand, and have not seen him since. If you are at all late getting to the woods don't bother going in, the chance of bumping him is to great.

Just as inportant and I think someone has already metioned it. Be completely anal about being sent free and hunt the wind. Use latex or sent loc gloves. If he even thinks he smells you he is outa there. Only go in if the wind is right. You might consider setting multiple stands for different wind conditions, but I would be getting that done now and don't go back into the area until season.

From a distance spend some time at night and early mornig before daylight and see if you can spot him feeding and see what time he is hedding back to the bedding area. This will tell you a lot.
