The reason why the WB is hated is as was mentioned above---it's so simple it's stupid and guys feel that it simply must be tougher than this for something to shoot great. BUT, it works, and works extremely well. Heck, I shot well with a springy years ago, and have seen perfect rounds shot with it also---talk about "contact"!
It took me awhile to "come around" on this rest too, but I'm here to tell you it works---the new B2 model significantly reduces fletching wear, and as stated before it is a HUNTING rest, so if one throws a million arrows through them and ruins vanes, well whose fault is that? Shoot a Bodoodle or GKF for 3D---I don't shoot the same bow or arrows for 3D (or any other target venue) that I do for hunting anyway--- different setups for different applications. "Happy mediums" only get you just that. The WB will more than perform well for it's intended use---I have my hunting arrows still in great shape---because I only practice with 3, then save the rest for the actual hunts. Don't need Mr. Wizard for that....
I'm one of those guys Jeff B mentioned--- I personally have no use for conventional solocams or drop away rests of any kind, but only because I have wrestled with both for years and have come to realize that both are simply not worth my time or trouble trying to get them to shoot properly and stay that way for any length of time. I originally thought these rests were just another "fad", but now that I've tested them thoroughly and installed them on virtually hundreds of bows, I can say the proof is in the pudding---people love them for their intended use, and that is the bottom line. They outsell any other hunting rest in my shop at least 3 to 1.
I know what will be on my Merlin Max Xtreme hunting setup this fall---a WB B2 QS Droptine.

JMHO. Good shooting, Pinwheel 12
