RE: Spur length ?
Mr.Longbeard I agree with ya,but the guys do make a very good point.Right here in N.Calif where I hunt in the Sacramento valley the ground on the east side of the valley is mainly lava rock due to the erruption of Mt Lassen way back when!The west side of the valley has very little rock make-up and consiquently the birds taken off the west side have longer sharper spurs.I hunt the east side alot and take alot of toms with either rounded off spurs or even broke-off or chipped.It is much easier to tell the age of the gobblers off the west side and your description is about right!
