RE: 7mm RESULTS
jd, I shoot a ruger 7mm mag with a pillar bedded stock and timney trigger. I shoot under 3 inch groups at 300 yards but to do that I had to go past the recommended max loads. At or under max loads, I couldn't hit a 3 inch group at 100 yards. I cautiously say that I think all the powder max loads are now very conservative.
I shoot 68-1/2 grains of H4831. I think the max load on the can is about 62 grains with a 140 grain ballistic tip bullet. I worked very slowly up to the load I'm shooting in 1/2 grain increments and as I did my groups got better. However, at 69-1/2 grains my bolt got stiff to open so I dropped back to 68-1/2 and that's what I shoot. At 400 yards, I can shoot a five inch group that is almost all verticle, in other words there is very little left to right movement.
I've since changed bullets to nosler partitions and lost a very small amount of accuracy but to me its a better deer bullet.
