Are these loads too hot in 40 S&W
These two loads are hot hot loads but are factory reloads from a popular company? They are as follows greater than two popular defense loads. Are these two Hi Velocity loads too hot for self defense loads for pistols like the Glock 35 and S&W 4053 TSW? Will they at this velocity perform as they should or as a defense bullet should and give reliable stopping percentages or not even have time to expand in a torso for the bullet to mushroom and provide the shock and energy that is needed to stop an assailant with one shot? The Federal 155gr Hydra Shok is rated a 97% one shot stopper and is as these examples are, much slower than the two Hi Velocity loads listed. So again are these two Hi Vel loads safe, reliable, and do you think they will perform as other top defense loads? The two loads are compared now below:
LOAD #1=Hi Velocity 40 Super 135gr. JHP with 1800 fps & 971 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle which is 1/3rd or 600 fps greater and almost 2 times the muzzle energy than Winchester's Super-X 40 S&W 155gr Silvertip JHP which has 1205 fps & 500 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle.
LOAD #2=Hi Velocity 40 Super 155gr. JHP with 1500 fps & 774 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle which is almost 1/4th or is 325 fps greater than Speer's Gold Dot 40 S&W 155gr Golden Saber JHP which has 1175 fps & 475 ft lbs at the muzzle.
Please give me your opinion and if you want to now more about getting some of these loads you can contact me here. Thanks, Larenegade. 15Jun04
