RE: Rocket Broadheads
I've been shooting Rocket heads almost exclusively since 1997......Wolverines, Miniblasters, SIdewinders.
I've had absolutely nothing but success with every one......The Miniblaster has been my "Go To" head.
They worked very well out of my Mathews Ultra MAx at 69 ft lbs of KE.....pass thru after pass thru and the deer don't make it very far.
Last year I tried a new creation of putting a "Pathfinder" tip on a Miniblaster for a better performing tip with the 1 3/4" cut along with the 90+ grs I was looking for.
I took 2 deer with them, both pass thrus and quickly dead deer......one didn't have a full width entrance hole. The first time ever with a Rocket head out of a dozen deer taken with them. I think the large cutting surface of that tip punched too big of an initial hole to allow the blades to grab anything before it entered......they opened fully just in and a full exit hole.
For next year I'm going to modify this set-up a bit and use the "3L" blades to ensure a full width entrance. I may even go to a 4 blade version......since I have the extra luxury of 88ft lbs of KE now!
I've never had a single failure with them, and neither have 2 of my friends who also shoot them.
They aren't always super sharp right out of the package however so you may need to touch the blades up a bit.
I trust them fully and will continue to use them.
