Rocket Broadheads

RE: Rocket Broadheads
Frank,
The miniblaster's blades are 1 3/4, as are the miniblaster 3L (that designates a flare or outturn on the ends of the blade. Rocket says "large extended tips for quick opening at lower speeds."
There's also a miniblaster 3XL (extra-long tips), plus the blades for the Sidewinder are 1 3/4" as well.
Of course, since you'll be buying a Bowtech, you could look at using Rocket's Sledgehammer, featuring 150 grains of a full 3 1/2" cutting diameter "made in response to demand from customers shooting 80+ pounds who were slicing through whitetails and still looking for their arrows!"

RE: Rocket Broadheads
I have been shooting the Rocket 100gr Hammerheads and I love them. They have since came out with the Steel heads, these are suppose to be much tuffer than the Hammerheads. I will be going to the steel heads next!! As far as mechanical heads go, the Rocket brand has proved itself very well.

RE: Rocket Broadheads
Overall all of the Rocket heads I have tested have been pretty good. My biggest complaint with them is that their blades are not sharp enough out of the box. I have yet to find one that will shave hair. Other than that they are well made heads, with my favorite being the steel heads.

Does Rocket have an e-mail address, I leave phone messages all the time about their dull blades, maybe if they hear enough complaining they'll find a new way to sharpen their blades.

RE: Rocket Broadheads
I like the 125 Steelhead better than the 100 grain. The tip extends further in front of the blades which should minimize a chance for deflection. I know a 5x5 elk and 10 point whitetail that sure didn't like the 125!
I agree that they are poorly sharpened. I use a fine stone to get them to shave, but sure shouldn't have to do that. Rockets web page and email address is at http://www.rocketaerohead.com/Produc...duct_line.html
I met the owner of Vortex broadheads in southern AZ in January. He has me convinced to try the Mini-Max 3. I like the way he could take a plier to the blade and twist it like a pretzel without it breaking.
