I've got to dissagree with Briman on this one.....the see-through mounts have saved the day on a few hunts.I use 30-06 pump and have it set up with irons at 100yd and scope at 300yd.For running or bush shooting,irons are the ticket, in those situations a scope isn't worth a nickel.For long shots when a scope is needed and the deer are calm, a "high" mounted scope fills the bill nicely.Then again,I've taken several deer at 350+yd with iron sights, so maybe scopes aren't really needed at all!
